Advanced Intune Capabilities Now Included in Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 – What It Means for Your Organization
The licensing changes
Microsoft announced a while ago that the advanced capabilities previously sold as a standalone Microsoft Intune Suite or individual add-ons will be included in Microsoft 365 E3 and Microsoft 365 E5 bundles beginning the summer of 2026, as part of a broader license capability change.
Depending on your existing license pool, the following features are now ready to be implemented without additional complex prerequisites:
Microsoft 365 E3 gains Remote Help and Intune Advanced Analytics capabilities with Intune Plan 2 (delivered through Enterprise Mobility + Security E3).
Microsoft 365 E5 includes everything in E3 and adds Endpoint Privilege Management (EPM), Enterprise Application Management, and Microsoft Cloud PKI service.
It is also worth reminding about the inclusion of Security Copilot capabilities for E5 customers, since those capabilities extend to Intune. Eligible organizations should be notified via Message Center regarding the latest updates.
Why this is relevant now
1. Cost avoidance through existing licensing
If your team was planning to utilize Intune Suite or even individual capabilities, they can now be considered and even piloted with minimal effort & costs.
2. Fewer overlapping tools
Several of the newly included capabilities, Remote Help for instance, overlap with third-party tools that organizations often pay a separate license for such as TeamViewer. Because the Intune-native equivalents share identity, role-based access, policy, and audit surfaces with the rest of the Microsoft endpoint stack, they can replace legacy tools without adding another management layer.
3. Set up & evaluate
These are existing, generally available capabilities. Since the features are available in the tenant, the remaining work is configuration, controlled rollout, and change management. The true value can only be confirmed through actual evaluation of the features.
