Retta and Huoneistokeskus transitioned fully to the cloud within four months with support from Context&.
The project replaced all remaining on‑premises solutions, including local Active Directory, printing services, and legacy business systems.
Keeping end users actively involved in the change proved essential for successful adoption.
Retta and Huoneistokeskus faced a tight schedule to rebuild their entire IT environment from scratch due to business acquisitions. Maintaining their old systems had become complex, costly, and restrictive, slowing their ability to work more agilely. Dependencies across multiple systems and user groups added significant coordination challenges, and legacy file and print services were particularly difficult to replace.
“The size of the task can be illustrated for example by the 32,000 Teams and SharePoint sites, 32 million documents, and 1,100 mailboxes migrated”
“The biggest lesson was how important it is to keep end users involved in the change. When staff gets active communication, the adoption goes much smoother.”
"The cloud transformation was not merely a technical shift; it has enabled entirely new ways of working and laid the foundation for leveraging artificial intelligence in the future."
A new IT infrastructure was built for both companies in six parallel project streams. Context& handled the design and development of Microsoft environments and migrated existing data to the cloud. Solutions included Microsoft OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint, as well as Azure Files for Retta’s file services. Due to the tight timeline, all existing data was moved “as is,” including 32,000 Teams and SharePoint sites, 32 million documents, and 1,100 mailboxes.
Retta Oy is part of the Nordic Retta Group and provides brokerage and management services for apartments, properties, and commercial spaces in Finland and Sweden. Huoneistokeskus employs housing market experts across Finland.
Retta and Huoneistokeskus now operate fully in the cloud with more flexible and efficient work practices. Files are structured and securely available through SharePoint and Teams, enabling seamless collaboration. SaaS‑based systems support business needs across devices, and the cloud foundation allows both companies to explore new opportunities, including AI‑based tools such as Copilot.
