Fondia accelerated the use of artificial intelligence by introducing Microsoft 365 Copilot with support from the Context& Copilot Adoption Service.
The organisation wanted a secure, Microsoft‑native AI solution that could improve daily efficiency across legal and support functions.
Strong internal engagement and structured training helped employees quickly adopt new ways of working with AI.
Fondia has a long history of adopting new technologies to support its business‑law services. When OpenAI’s ChatGPT emerged, the company explored its potential but applied strict rules and frameworks due to security concerns. As soon as Microsoft 365 Copilot was announced, Fondia wanted to begin using it, but licensing restrictions delayed the project until January 2024.
The motivation was clear: make everyday work more efficient for both lawyers and support teams, and help employees work smarter with tools they already use extensively, including Microsoft Teams.
“We became interested in artificial intelligence as soon as Open AI’s ChatGPT entered the market. It was allowed to be tested, but strict rules and frameworks were created for its use. As soon as rumors started circulating about the M365 Copilot tool, we were immediately on board!”
“For a long time, we were ready to pilot Copilot. We were just waiting for the moment when we could make this a profitable business case for us. Because we were so enthusiastic, we wanted to implement M365 Copilot as quickly as possible,”
“At Fondia, we have talked a lot about the change in AI era work, and Copilot is wildly promoting this transformation,”
“There was a lot of enthusiasm both in the Validators group and in our entire organisation, and people were committed and willing to learn”
Fondia implemented Microsoft 365 Copilot with support from Context&. Copilot is now used to summarise legal texts and long email threads, write emails, support content creation in Excel and PowerPoint, search for information and compare legal cases. Two user groups emerged naturally: lawyers using Copilot for analysis and comparison tasks, and support functions using it to streamline everyday communication and documentation.
Context& provided clear project specifications and helped develop training programmes. A dedicated group of M365 Copilot Validators — representing legal areas and support functions — supported colleagues, drove adoption and helped solve practical use cases across the organisation.
Fondia is a business‑law firm founded in 2004 with approximately 180 employees across Finland, Sweden, Estonia and Lithuania.
Feedback showed that while some users required more support than others, interest in developing Copilot usage was strong across all four countries. Early positive feedback came from the Baltics, despite an initial scepticism toward new technologies.
With the implementation and basic training completed, Fondia is now preparing to expand its Copilot usage through internal programmes. Competence teams and support functions will explore the applications in more detail and assess how Copilot can be used efficiently in each country.
